Borealis Star   Aurora Borealis

The Amador Valley Marching Band and Colorguard have much to celebrate.  In two consecutive weekends, the Marching Dons captured fourth place awards in Final Competitions at the Bands of America (BOA) Regional Championships on November 10th, and then one week later, fifth place at the Western Band Association (WBA) Grand Championships.  Both events were held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, CA.

In both competitions, the Dons had to first qualify for the Finals Competition by placing among the best bands in a Preliminary Competition.  In Finals Competition at BOA, Amador jumped up three places over their finish in 2006, and at WBA, they bested their 2006 finish by one place, and placed their highest overall scores in school history for this division.

The 2007 Amador field show is entitled "Aurora Borealis," inspired by the spectacular celestial light shows of northern skies.  The original music, by John Meehan and John Mapes, is presented in three movements: Sky Fires, The Heavens, and A Vengeful Force.  The Director of the Amador Valley Marching Band and Colorguard is Jonathan Grantham.  The Drum Majors are Anthony Sanchez, Allison Gehl and Ben Donlon; the Guard Captains are Kate Dowdy and Rachel Silva.
